|This Battlespace Simulations (BSI) video shows a scenario of a simulated MQ-5B unmanned aerial vehicle sensor overwatching a synthetic real-time 3D urban environment in support of a convoy of U.S. MRAP vehicles and close air support (CAS) assets.
In this scenario, the sensor operator must analyze and classify the simulated pattern of life generated by the networked semi-automated forces from BSI's Modern Air Combat Environment (MACE) application and visualized in MetaVR’s Virtual Reality Scene Generator (VRSG) image generator.
The UAV operator slews and alternates the sensor magnification, attempting to identify the contrast associated with thermal signatures of the environment. The operator pans the area and monitors armed individuals converging on a main supply route which is protected by peacekeepers in static vehicles. When the converging individuals show hostile intent and begin firing, AH-64 helicopters are called in to respond by firing at the insurgent firing position.
Although the insurgents are partially concealed from view by an arch structure on the route, the operator provides sensor feedback of their location to the CAS mission. Thermal signature parameters are passed from MACE to VRSG such that entities depict realistic thermal signatures.
