BMD-2 UA IFV
|This BMD-2 model with Ukraine (UA) markings is comprised of 24,007 polygons and 42.4 MB of textures (per paint scheme) has been added to MetaVR's 3D Content Military Entity Library. The model has an articulated turret and gun. The headlights, taillights, and brakelights are controlled on appearance switch states. Included in the markings is the characteristic white circle with breaks, which denotes a Ukranian vehicle. This marking is an important detail as both the Russians and Ukranians could potentially be using the same vehicle type differentiated only by the primarily markings.
The large image shows the BMD-2 model UA model in MetaVR's Model Viewer with a photo of the actual vehicle loaded in the background as a reference image. The ability to use reference image in the Model Viewer is a feature of VRSG.
The BMD-2 airborne amphibious infantry fighting vehicle (IFV), a modern variant of the BMD-1, was introduced into the Russian armed forces in 1985 and was further put into operation in India, Ukraine, and Uzbekistan. A compact well-armored vehicle equipped to carry 5 soldiers, the BMD-2 is airlifted by medium military transport aircraft and can be para-dropped using a rocket parachute with a platform. The vehicle is fully amphibious, and is propelled in the water by two water-jets at the rear of the hull. The BMD-2 had been in recent use in the Ukraine during its crisis with Russia this year. The vehicle belongs to the Ukraine 24th Airborne Brigade.
